Online Pre-Med/ Graduate medical school

Q. check out www.medicalschoolonline.com they offer Pre-Med/ Graduate degrees for students who want to go to medical school. what do you think ?

A. Interesting idea. Especially since a lot of pre-clinical medical education (in the hard sciences, anyway) requires a lot of self-motivated, independent studying outside of the classroom... But here's the kicker: "Since the ACMS has begun granting graduate degrees, we have been pursuing the standards necessary to be accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Distance and Education Training Council (DTEA). " i.e., this (presumably for-profit) outfit is unaccredited.. so it's likely your efforts would not be viewed as comparable to those made as a post-baccalaureate student at an accredited U.S. university (assuming you're a U.S. citizen trying to get accepted to a U.S. med school). You're much better off taking the same classes at a local community college or university and racking up additional credits to boost your post-baccalaureate GPA. If you spend the big bucks and wind up with a master's degree from an unaccredited institution (especially via the internet) you're still going to be right back where you started from.
