I wonder if it is part of the canteen culture and drivers exchange stories of their 'kills' over tea?ECept Education > Driver Education Q. Hobson Street behind M&S and Woolworths is a favourite spot for this. The bus accelerates on the right hand side of the road towards the cyclist (not always me) forcing the cyclist to stop or get onto the pavement. This happened again to me this morning at 11am with a 77 Park and Ride bus. The road was empty with, unusually, no delivery vehicles. It seems as though it is some sort of game for some bus drivers to intimidate cyclists. I wonder if it is part of the canteen culture and drivers exchange stories of their 'kills' over tea? A. Regardless of wether its a 1 way or 2 way street for cyclists the fact of the matter is that a bus ia approx 9' wide and they have no option of route as the council shut off the town centre, so hobson street it is. Hobson street is ABOUT (no exact measurment taken) 12 foot wide, take into consideration the parked delivery drivers/ disabled drivers/ illegally parked drivers and what option does a bus have??? When the city centre was free flowing for traffic then this senario would not arise and bus drivers and cyclists could live in harmony sharing PLENTY of road space. But considering the sucidal way a vast number of cyclist ride in this town you never know what they are going to do next! Also a bus as many of you know are on very tight time tables and dont have time to sit around waiting for some half witted cyclist to make up thier mind wether to stay, go or just look stupidly at them. If EVERYONE from cyclists to bus drivers to car drivers and white van man all gave a little more thought to thier situation and OTHER people on the roads then we could all get on. So instead of bleating about some minor injustice on the road why not all get our heads together and give a little to each other on the roads therefore making everyones experiance on the roads safer and more enjoyable.
