Q. anyone can show me about Team Leadership Training ? I was looking for the most effective and practical solution so please think about it. If you take on being the TA to these four you can validate their training and then you can possibly cut down on some of your commitments a little as you will have four newly trained, highly motivated, loyal qualified Leaders.

A. -I thought the old leadership courses were bloody marvellous because they were tailored perfectly to me personally. They worked on the principle of let's take a "totally new to scouting" leader & show him/her what's what. Which worked fine *for me* because I'd been out of scouting for over twenty years. There were others in our group who were Akelas and had been for years, and for them much (but by no means all) of the course was a waste of time - take for example the knotting classes - one trainer and five other trainee leaders all teaching me how to do a clove hitch. For me, fine, for the others - not so. In principle the new scheme has merit in that you can "mix and match" and choose what you need to learn. Which could be delivered by a revamped set of Leadership 1 & 2 courses run by a county team. Brining training down to group level (which is what is being attempted in many places) is not working. -The mixing and matching ticking off what you already know is a good idea but it looses some of the team aspects of all getting together for a weekend and working through the whole syllabus. There are good and bad points to each but the problems with the new scheme seem to be lack of specific training courses, lack of qualified TA's and TA's who don't seem to understand the system because they have not been properly trained themselves.
