University Of Texas Dental School Houston, dental schools

ECept Education > Online Degree

Q. I am a junior at the University of Notre Dame. I'm taking my DAT in April, but before I can fill out my application, I have to decide which schools I should apply to. I'm from Iowa, and I know that Iowa has a great dental program. I also know that it is very competitive to get in. My Cum GPA is a 3.265, and my science GPA is a 3.0. I have taken General Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physiology, and first semester physics. I am currently taking Cell Biology and second semester physics. I took a practice DAT, and I scored a 15.33. I took it before I had reviewed any of my basic science courses, so I hope to improve my score. If anyone out there could send me their thoughts about specific dental schools such as why they liked/disliked a school, what the school is like, the surrounding city, and his/her opinion of my chance on getting accepted by a school, I would really appreciate it. Also, what is the difference between a DMD and a DDS?

A. Every Single MONTH/WEEK, there is a similar posting !!!! Hey bone head !!!! backtrack a few hundred postings and read the postings !!! Here the BoneHead is McQuistan. Learn about the system before posting useless msgs. read the FAQ !!! bottom line : You have posted a line of message that had been answered many times over. You have posted before doing any homework. (too lazy to look over past messages). You do *NOT* deserve to become a dentist and get the rewards that go with being one. In any case, I urge you to go to the Dental School *name 3rd world country name*. Lots of dentists love to see work done from them countries. Well I dont know if I can help, but Ill try. Yes, Iowa is a pretty tuff school to get into, along with Washington, UCLA, USC, Harvard, Columbia, Univ of Minnesota, and Michigan. You will have to improve your GPA to about 3.4 or 3.5 to have a good shot. Your DAT score should be around 18 or 19 overrall. I think the best thing for you to do is to go to your campus book store and buy one of those books that shows all the dental schools, and the avg. GPA's and DAT's, tuition costs, and how each school judges each component like interview, recommendation, and science GPA. Find out which schools will accept and give privileges to Iowan residents. Dont bother to apply to any public school outside your region, unless u have a superior GPA and DAT. The private schools are generally easier to get into except places like harvard and columbia, but the drawback for these schools is the tution which ranges from 20 to 30,000 bucks! where public schools are
